Dear Sixth Former,

I would like to welcome you to the Towers 6th Form and to make you aware of some important information and dates coming up. Firstly, I want to ensure that we have timetabled you for the ‘correct’ courses. Your advisory details and the courses we have you enrolled on are shown attached slip. Please check and amend them (if necessary) and return to Mrs Lawman, 6th Form Data Manager, as soon as possible.

Please remember that your course options may change, depending on your GCSE results in August. If you find that your GCSE results affect your 6th Form course options myself, and other members of the 6th Form team, will be available in the school between 10am-1pm on Thursday 27th August (for Yr11 ‘Towers’ students) and on Friday 28th August (for all other students) to check & amend courses if necessary.

Furthermore, I am asking that all new Year 12 students come to the Towers 6th Form for 1 hour before the term fully starts on Monday 7th September to check timetables/meet your advisor, etc. If your surname begins A-M could you go to your advisor’s room on Thursday 3rd September at 11.30am – 12.30pm; if your surname begins L-Z could you go to your advisor’s room on Friday 4th Sept at 1.20pm – 2.20pm. Could you also bring photocopies of your GCSE exam certificates and a copy of your Passport (if able) on these days!

Unfortunately some of our courses are not running due to insufficient size of the class. If you have a note on your subject choices ‘another course to be chosen’ then please make sure to see Mr. Leddington, Mr. Reason or Mr. Davis to discuss your additional course choice on 3rd September/4th September when you are in.

Finally, I would like to congratulate you on succeeding in your 6th Form interview and welcoming you into the Towers 6th Form.  I hope you enjoy your studies and the time in the 6th Form and use it to give yourself a great chance for your future. However, it is important that you are aware of the rules and ‘ethos’ of the 6th Form and part of that is signing a home/school ‘contract’. Enclosed is a parental version of the 6th Form handbook. Can you and them please go through it and then both sign the contract at the end and bring it in on the 3rd or 4th of September.

I look forward to seeing you,

David Leddington
